Spurs, Rudy Gay agree on reported 2-year, $17M deal

The San Antonio Spurs and Rudy Gay have agreed to terms on a contract, the team announced Thursday. It's for two years and just over $17 million with a player option next season, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gay took a financial risk by opting out of his final year with the Sacramento Kings at $14.2 million, but joins a perennial contender with Gregg Popovich's crew.

Gay suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in January, ending his season having played just 30 games. He'd openly criticized the Kings' culture before that.

Going into his 12th NBA season, Gay received a fair amount of free-agent interest despite coming off a serious injury. While he has a reputation as a volume shooter, he's averaged 46 percent shooting from the floor and nearly 36 percent shooting from deep in the last three seasons.
