Antoine Walker: Bulls traded Butler because he's 'bad locker room guy'
The Chicago Bulls recently parted ways with their best player in a head-scratching deal.
The team traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and essentially the right to move up nine spots in this year's draft.
Ex-NBA player Antoine Walker gave his two cents on why Chicago was willing to let the All-NBA talent go for pennies on the dollar.
"Jimmy Butler is a young-guy killer," he recently told ESPN.
"He's just a bad locker room guy. A lot of outbursts took place throughout the season, with the coaches, with the players.
"You try to build something, especially in Chicago, and he's going to be your best player, he has to be a leader on and off the court. And he did a poor example of that. I think that's why the Bulls kind of parted ways with him."
While Walker gave Butler credit for working hard to improve his game, he called the 2015 MIP a "very selfish player."
Butler posted career highs across the board this past season, averaging 23.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 dimes, and 1.9 steals in 37 minutes per outing. He was named an All-Star starter for the first time and carried the Bulls to the playoffs.
