Warriors won't bite on questions about going for perfect playoff record
The Golden State Warriors have been here before, chasing history. And this time, they're keeping their mouths shut.
The Warriors spoke frequently last year about chasing the all-time best regular-season record - which they achieved at 73-9, only to lose in the Finals - but they aren't biting on talk of going a perfect 16-0 this postseason.
"Nah," Draymond Green said Tuesday, according to the Bay Area News Group's Tim Kawakami. "We made that mistake by circling 73 and worrying about the wrong thing before."
The Warriors sit at 14-0 so far in these playoffs going into Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday in Cleveland. Two more wins would clinch the team's second Larry O'Brien Trophy in three seasons, but coach Steve Kerr only wants to talk one game at a time.
"We want 15-0," Kerr told reporters at an afternoon media session. "That's what we want ... We literally have never once mentioned 16-0. To me, it's a miracle that it's even a possibility. It's so hard to do. But we are here, we're more focused on what happened last year like in terms of we were up 2-0 and we came (to Cleveland) and the series shifted. That's the important lesson, not any historical benchmarks or anything like that."
No team has ever gone undefeated in the NBA postseason.
