Warriors extend historic postseason record to 14-0

The Golden State Warriors have pushed their historic playoff run to even higher heights.

In defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-113 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Dubs became the first team in NBA history to start a postseason with a flawless 14-0 record. Prior to this year, no team had even started a postseason with a 12-0 record. The Warriors are now just two wins away from playoff perfection.

Kevin Durant led the victors with an absurd line including 33 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks, while playing lockdown defense for most of the game. LeBron James' eighth career Finals triple-double matched the all-time record, but wasn't enough to keep the score close down the stretch. The Warriors went up by double digits midway through the third quarter and never looked back.

Per ESPN Stats & Info, this was Golden State's 12th double-digit win of the playoffs, matching a record set by the 2012-13 Heat, the 2013-14 Spurs, and the 2015-16 Cavaliers. Each of those teams would go on to win the championship after dominant postseason runs.

The 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers are the only team to win a championship with just one loss in the playoffs; they finished with a record of 15-1. After sweeping the first three rounds of the playoffs, including what was then a best-of-five first round, the Lakers were upset by Allen Iverson's upstart 76ers in Game 1 of the 2001 NBA Finals, before winning the next four games of the series.

James' Cavs have their work cut out for them if they want to avoid going down in NBA infamy. They might want to give The Answer a call before Game 3.
