Magic select Jonathan Isaac with No. 6 pick
With the sixth pick in Thursday's NBA draft, the Orlando Magic selected Florida State forward Jonathan Isaac.
The 19-year-old Bronx native stands 6-foot-11 and boasts a 7-foot-1 wingspan and rare athleticism for someone of his stature, which could have the Magic excited about his defensive potential.
Isaac started every game for the 26-9 Seminoles, stuffing the stat sheet with 12 points, 7.8 boards, 1.5 blocks, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest. He hustles, can finish in transition, and is explosive at the rim. He's also shown a nice shooting touch - 59.3 percent within the arc and 34.8 from beyond it - and could make for an effective stretch-four in the NBA.
The main knock on Isaac is his difficulty creating for himself and teammates, so it would behoove him to work on his ball-handling. The lanky freshman would also benefit from bulking up so he doesn't get pushed around by NBA bigs down low.
