With the No. 35 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies selected California center Ivan Rabb.

The Grizzlies reportedly acquired the pick earlier in the night following a trade with the Orlando Magic.

Rabb's sophomore season at Cal didn't look strikingly different than his freshman campaign. His averages improved slightly to 14 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.7 steals per game, though with a bump from 28.7 to 32.6 minutes per game, his per-40-minute rates were nearly identical.

The [TEAM] will be able to bring Rabb along slowly, allowing him to acclimatize with the bench unit. The pick-and-roll will be a staple of his game until he can prove that his face-up shooting translates at the next level. Encouragingly, Rabb shot 9-for-22 on 3-point shots in his two years at Cal, suggesting that Rabb could add range to his arsenal with time.

One key area in which the 6-foot-10, 220-pound big improved was on the defensive end. Rabb was able to leverage his 7-foot-2 wingspan for better rebounding opportunities and deflections. As with all young big men, Rabb will have to avoid biting on veteran moves designed to take him off balance - and put him in a position to pick up fouls.
