Report: Ball not a lock for Lakers, who'll look hard at Fox
The Los Angeles Lakers have been long connected to the idea of taking Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick in the June 22 draft, but they will also take a hard look at De'Aaron Fox, according to The Vertical's Jonathan Givony.
With the Boston Celtics expected to nab Markelle Fultz at No. 1, the general consensus is that the next-best players in the draft are Ball and Fox - point guards with divergent styles. The Lakers are hoping for the possibility of a head-to-head workout, reports Givony.
Ball's father LaVar is already on record saying that his son will only work out for their hometown Lakers, but it's not known if the family would be amenable to a one-on-one situation with Fox. The last time Lonzo and Fox met on the court, Fox outscored him 39-10 in Kentucky's win over UCLA in the Sweet 16 - a game attended by Lakers president Magic Johnson.

While Lonzo's forte is court vision and shooting, Fox is more of a Russell Westbrook/John Wall speedster that teams give the ball in hopes opponents will get out of the way. The choice comes down to what sort of team the Lakers want to have, since they're expected to eventually pursue a franchise-type player like Paul George.
Johnson has already said the presence of the publicity-courting LaVar won't influence the Lakers' draft decisions.
