Report: Hawks offered 4 first-round picks for Paul George at deadline

The Indiana Pacers ultimately chose not to trade Paul George at this year's trade deadline, but it appears they could've netted a monster return if they had.

The Atlanta Hawks were one of several teams to make trade offers for George in February, and were willing to sacrifice four first-round picks in order to acquire him, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.

George was in the midst of another strong season with the Pacers, and would've given the Hawks a formidable duo with All-Star power forward Paul Millsap. While Indiana has yet to give any indication that they plan to move the 27-year-old, they could be more willing to re-engage in talks with Atlanta now that George is ineligible to sign a super-max extension.

George wasn't the only star player on Atlanta's radar, as the Hawks reportedly also made an "aggressive" trade offer for the Chicago Bulls' Jimmy Butler prior to the deadline.

The Hawks are currently searching for a new general manager after Wes Wilcox stepped down from the role earlier this month. Joe Dumars, Chauncey Billups, and Brent Barry are among the listed of reported candidates.
