LaVar Ball: Lonzo only needs to work out for Lakers

The Lonzo Ball-Los Angeles Lakers union is one step closer to coming to fruition after the Lakers took home the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft on Tuesday night.

Confident that his 19-year-old son will soon be donning purple and gold at Staples Center, the always outspoken LaVar Ball only wants Lonzo to audition for Los Angeles and no other teams.

"That’s all we working out for is the Lakers,” said LaVar to Lakers Nation's Ryan Ward shortly after the lottery. "Just the Lakers. There’s nobody else that we need to workout for."

A source close to the UCLA alumnus told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that Lonzo was contemplating whether or not to take part in multiple workouts, with such a decision being reached closer to June.

The Lakers last qualified for the playoffs in 2013, and have failed to crack 30 wins for a season since then. Should they draft Lonzo, LaVar feels he'll almost single-handedly return the franchise back to prominence.

"The Lakers make the playoffs as soon as my boy gets there," LaVar said.

He added, "I really don’t care about Rookie of the Year and all that. I just want to make sure the kid makes the playoffs. Lonzo is going to make everybody better."
