All-black attire backfires on Celtics

When the Washington Wizards arrived for a home game against the Boston Celtics on Jan. 24 wearing all black, at least they managed to win.

The Celtics, as a form of revenge mockery, did the same Friday at the Verizon Center and promptly lost Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. While the bad blood and gamesmanship between the two teams have been evident all season and this series, Wizards coach Scott Brooks was in a joking mood about Boston's all-black stunt after their 92-91 victory.

"I'm going to talk to my lawyers," Brooks said, according to SI's Ben Golliver. "I think we have that trademarked."

Point guard John Wall - who lambasted the Celtics for the attire choice in his postgame TV interview - sounded like it motivated him.

"It was just funny to me," Wall said, according to MassLive's Jay King. "It was in my mind throughout the game."

Celtics center Al Horford - who's shooting 69 percent from the floor in the series - clearly didn't speak to Wall. When asked if the all-black approach might have worked as motivation for the Wizards, he told the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach, "If you're searching for stuff, that's fine."

Power forward Markieff Morris perhaps offered the most stinging blow.

"(The Celtics) want to be us so bad," he said, according to SBN's Mike Prada.
