Watch: Shaq teased for never having a 50-point playoff game
Since 1965, 18 players have scored at least 50 points in an NBA playoff game.
Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal isn't one of them.
Following the Boston Celtics' 129-119 Game 2 overtime victory on Tuesday in which Isaiah Thomas dropped 53 points on the Washington Wizards, TNT analyst Ernie Johnson brought to the panel's attention that both Charles Barkley (56 versus Golden State Warriors, 1994) and Dominique Wilkins (50 versus Detroit Pistons, 1986) have also notched 50 points or more in the postseason.
The Big Aristotle appeared genuinely surprised to learn - when Johnson started handing out box scores - that he himself had never hit that mark in 216 career postseason appearances.
In fact, O'Neal only topped the 40-point mark on two occasions, scoring 46 points with the Los Angeles Lakers against the Portland Trail Blazers in 1997, and then again three years later against the Sacramento Kings in 2000.
If it's any consolation (which it most certainly is), O'Neal's four championship rings are four more than Wilkins and Barkley have combined.
