Jazz's Joe Johnson: Ice cold from long range Thursday
Johnson provided 12 points (5-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Thursday's 91-83 loss to the Cavaliers.
Analysis:
Johnson has seen a bump in workload over the past five contests with Derrick Favors (knee) out with a bone bruise. Coach Quin Synder has played him an average of 27.4 minutes per game across that stretch, and Johnson is responding by averaging 11.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest on 44.0 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from distance. While it seemed likely that Trey Lyles would be the main beneficiary of Favors' absence, it appears that Johnson is the one who will garner the most significant minutes bump.
