San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard and Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker have been named Players of the Week for their respective conferences.
Walker is coming off a 2-1 week for the Hornets, leading the team to important road victories over the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. After breaking out last season, the 26-year-old has been even better in 2016-17, posting career highs in points per game (22.9) and field-goal percentage (.450).
Leonard led the Spurs to an undefeated week, helping to extend the team's seven-game winning streak. While he hasn't been at the forefront of the MVP discussion until recently, the 6-foot-7 small forward is in the midst of a monster campaign, averaging 26.1 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals on 48.5 percent shooting.
It's the fifth Player of the Week honor of Walker's career, and Leonard's fourth.
