Amar'e Stoudemire says he'd steer clear of gay teammate
Amar'e Stoudemire apparently wouldn't be comfortable with a homosexual teammate.
Walla Sport asked several players from the Israeli Basketball Premier League - where the 34-year-old has been playing following 14 NBA seasons - if they would have a problem suiting up alongside someone who's gay.
While every other player in the short clip indicated they wouldn't have an issue, Stoudemire sang a different, far less accepting tune.
"I would shower across the street, make sure my change of clothes are around the corner, and drive, take a different route to the gym," he replied.
Asked if he was joking, STAT answered: "I mean, there's always a truth within a joke."
It's not the first time the six-time All-Star has made a homophobic remark. In 2012, the NBA fined him $50,000 for tweeting a gay slur.
