Nets' K.J. McDaniels: Shipped to Brooklyn
McDaniels was traded from the Rockets to the Nets on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Analysis:
McDaniels has averaged just 7.3 minutes with the Rockets this season, as he's been buried on the depth chart behind the likes of James Harden and Eric Gordon at shooting guard. The Rockets are able to free up some extra salary space with the trade, while the Nets bring in a young shooter, who is known for his athleticism and still has some potential. Right out of the gates, McDaniels will likely start out behind the likes of Randy Foye, Sean Kilpatrick and Joe Harris at shooting guard, so it remains to be seen if he'll garner significant minutes. He could also provide some added depth at small forward, which may be a quicker path to playing time. McDaniels has a team option for the 2017-18 season, so if the Nets aren't pleased with their acquisition, there's no long-term ties.
