Gasol scores career-high 42 points in win over Raptors
Marc Gasol is giving coaches more than enough reason to select him as an All-Star reserve this season.
The Grizzlies big man erupted for his best offensive game as pro on Wednesday, scoring a career-high 42 points in Memphis' 101-99 win over the Toronto Raptors. Gasol was particularly dominant in the opening frame, dropping 16 points in the first four minutes of the contest.
After undergoing foot surgery last season, Gasol has returned to the court better than ever, averaging career-highs in points (20.1) and assists (4.2), while chipping in 6 rebounds per contest. The 31-year-old has even managed to add a three-points stroke to his arsenal, shooting 38.8 percent from distance.
The former Defensive Player of the Year has also been dominant on the other end of the floor, and is a major reason why Memphis sits fourth in the NBA in defensive rating this season.
