Silver: Adding 7 days to NBA season 'makes a big difference'
After several changes were made to the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, commissioner Adam Silver joined the FOX Sports Indiana broadcast of the Pacers game Monday to discuss one of the key changes: starting the regular season a week earlier.
"That seven more days makes a big difference in fitting in 82 games in what is now 165 days," Silver said, "and it means we should be able to pretty much eliminate four games out of five nights and take another pretty decent percentage down of back-to-backs. It makes a big difference in doing the schedule."

The preseason will be reduced to six games, and no team will play four games in five nights more than once. Those changes should lessen player fatigue, which could put a stop to teams giving their starters days off to "rest."
