USA Today Sports

NBA fans have seen the last of The Birdman for the 2016-17 season.

Cleveland Cavaliers center Chris Andersen suffered a non-contact right ACL tear during practice Friday and will require season-ending surgery, the team announced.

Playing in his 15th NBA season, Andersen inked a one-year contract for the veteran's minimum over the summer, reuniting with LeBron James with whom he won a championship in South Beach in 2013.

He's averaging 2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 12 appearances.
