Grizzlies' Parsons, Allen expected out at least 1 week
The Memphis Grizzlies' season is not beginning on a healthy note. Prized offseason free agent Chandler Parsons is expected to miss a "week or two," coach David Fizdale said, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
Parsons was already ruled out of Wednesday's season opener, after missing the entire preseason. The culprit is Parsons' recurring right knee issues, which prematurely ended his last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Grizzlies signed Parsons to a four-year, $94-million contract in July.
Furthermore, 34-year-old shooting guard Tony Allen is expected to miss the first week of the regular season with his own knee issue, the team said.
The Grizzlies lost more than 300 man games to injury last season and rostered an NBA-record 28 players over the course of the campaign.
