76ers' Robert Covington: Expects to play in opener
Covington (ankle) said he expects to play in Wednesday's season opener against the Thunder, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. "I'm feeling pretty good," Covington said Monday. "I did a lot of stuff to stay on top of [the right ankle sprain], so I'll be ready for Opening Night."
Analysis:
Covington suffered a sprained right ankle in Friday's preseason finale against the Heat, but the injury doesn't look to be anything concerning. The team officially lists Covington as probable for the opener, and at this point all indications are that the small forward isn't in danger of sitting out. Assuming he's officially cleared, Covington will open the season as the 76ers' starting small forward and play around 25-to-30 minutes per game.
