Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Out with bone bruise in right foot
Gasol has been diagnosed with a bone bruise on his right foot and has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason finale against the Timberwolves, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.
Analysis:
Gasol was originally diagnosed with a right ankle sprain after leaving Saturday's game, but a follow-up MRI provided further clarity on the situation. Fortunately for Gasol, the bruised bone in question is a different bone than the one that required season-ending surgery in February, and isn't expected to keep him sidelined for long. According to Peter Edmiston of Sports 56 WHBQ-AM, Gasol underwent a CT scan and MRI that revealed no significant damage beyond the bruise, so there's a good possibility that he'll be cleared to return in time for the Grizzlies' Oct. 26 regular-season opener.
