The Cleveland Cavaliers signed a catch-and-shoot guard on Monday ... But it wasn't J.R. Smith.

The defending champions announced the signing of free-agent guard Toney Douglas on Monday. Minutes after the move was made, Smith fired off a cryptic tweet.

Smith and the Cavaliers remain at a contractual stalemate as preseason gets into full swing. The 31-year-old reportedly wants around $15 million per year - a fair price for an elite 3-point shooter like Smith - but the Cavaliers are the only bidder on the market, and they're in expensive luxury tax territory.

It's in the interest of both parties to reunite, but price remains the key issue.
