Kawhi Leonard was all smiles at Sunday's Grand Prix of Sonoma.

The normally stoic San Antonio Spurs forward went to the IndyCar event on Sunday in his native California, where he overcame some jitters and drove with racing legend Mario Andretti.

The duo raced together in a two-seater as part of Honda's "Fastest Seat in Sports" event.

Ahead of his first-ever race, the 25-year-old was pretty nervous.

"I want to just hurry up and get in the car so I can stop thinking about it - there's anticipation and worrying about if everything is going to go alright," Leonard said before jumping into the car, as quoted by Madalyn Mendoza of MySA.com. "I just want to be in the moment now."

Afterward, however, the reigning back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year was grinning from ear to ear.

"It went great. I felt good out there with him," he said. "I told him, my insurance is high so make sure you drive great."

Jokes aside, Leonard came away with a desire to further improve his own craft.

"You know it was just an amazing experience and humbling to be in the same car as him," he continued. "He is one of the best and that's what you want to do. He just inspires me to even do better in my sport."

He made his first All-Star appearance in 2015-16 when he averaged career highs of 21.2 points, 2.6 assists, and a block to go along with 6.8 boards and 1.8 steals.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha, were also on hand for the racing fun.
