Former 1st-rounder Milicic now living as a farmer
Former No. 2 overall pick Darko Milicic led a respectable 10-year NBA career, but he'll always go down in history as the odd one out.
In a star-studded 2003 NBA Draft that produced the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and Carmelo Anthony, Milicic's modest impact sticks out like a sore thumb.
Nowadays, Milicic is apparently leading a humble life as a farmer in Serbia, as he revealed to Blic Sport, which the Detroit Free Press loosely translated.
"I'm in the fruit," Milicic said about his new life as a farmer. "I took the land and nurture cherry, apple, and plum. Otherwise, an ordinary man living in Serbia is difficult. But I do not like pessimism, which is expanding."
The 31-year-old also touched on his time in the NBA, and complained about never getting a chance the way other top players did.
"It is brutal system in America and I do not like it. ... You've got players who are first, second picks, and they immediately get an opportunity to play. I never got the chance. LeBron James is a killer, but the first year, they gave him a chance."
Milicic last played in the NBA during the 2012-13 season, playing one game with the Boston Celtics. He finished his career with averages of six points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 18.5 minutes while suiting up for six franchises.
