In response to Sunday's mass shooting in Orlando, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban donated $1 million to the Dallas Police Department to lend support to the LGBT community.
The money will be used for an estimated 16,000 hours in police overtime to aid counter-terrorism efforts, with an emphasis on placing additional officers in Oak Lawn - a neighborhood with a large LGBT community.
"Once again, Mark has demonstrated his devotion to his city by stepping up in a time of need," Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in press release. "In the wake of national tragedies, we often hear empty talk from politicians and other influencers. With this pledge, Mark shows he is a man of action who cares deeply about his fellow Dallasites."
