Dion Waiters made his Syracuse teammates call him 'Kobe Wade'
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiters certainly wasn't lacking in confidence during his college days at Syracuse.
Waiters envisioned himself as a mix between Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade, and at least tried to nickname himself after the two stars, according to Danny Parkins of 610 AM in Kansas City.
Waiters carried that belief into the NBA.
Following his rookie season in 2013, Waiters said he was confident he would eventually become the best shooting guard in the NBA, taking over from his two elders.
"I just feel as though I'm next up as far as shooting guards," he told HoopsWorld. "If you look around, you know, Kobe and Wade and those guys, they paved the way for a player like me and they're almost done. It's not like that, but I'm just saying, I'm coming. I just want everybody to know that."
