The Houston Rockets appear to be moving closer to choosing their new head coach.

Philadelphia 76ers assistant Mike D'Antoni has earned a second interview with the Rockets, ESPN's Marc Stein and Calvin Watkins report, citing league sources. If he lands the position, the Rockets would reportedly look for a second coach to serve as D'Antoni's defensive coordinator.

D'Antoni has spent 12 seasons as a head coach in the NBA, including stints with the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers.

Former Houston head coach Jeff Van Gundy is also considered a finalist for the position, but Rockets ownership reportedly isn't sold on a reunion with the ESPN analyst.

Jeff Hornacek, David Blatt, Frank Vogel, and Sam Cassell are among the long list of candidates for the position.
