Report: Knicks met with Luke Walton
No surprise here, but Phil Jackson has his eyes on one of his former disciples.
Jackson has already contacted Golden State Warriors assistant head coach Luke Walton, a source tells Marc Berman of the New York Post.
However, the talks are still in the early stages. "It’s going to be a long, deliberate process," the source cautioned.
Walton, who won two championships as a player under Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers, shot into prominence after leading the current defending champions to a 39-4 start as an interim coach.
In addition to Walton, the Knicks are also said to be interested in Tom Thibodeau (rumored to be Carmelo Anthony's preferred choice) and former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt. Interim coach Kurt Rambis also remains in consideration.
