Tristan Thompson got creative to keep his ironman streak alive.

Having played every game of his career dating back to his debut in 2011, Thompson found himself caught between resting for the playoffs and surrendering the title.

He found a compromise: Thompson started Wednesday's wholly meaningless matchup against the Detroit Pistons, then committed an intentional foul four seconds into the game so he could check out.

Thompson will look to extend his streak beyond 388 next season.
