Parsons loves Dallas, undecided about opt-out
While it's almost a certainty Chandler Parsons opts out of his contract this summer, the Dallas Mavericks forward remains non-committal.
"That's something that we've got to figure out," Parsons told Tim MacMahon of ESPN. "Obviously, I've been extremely happy here, and I think I've made it very vocal that I love Dallas. I love the organization."
The 27-year-old signed a three-year, $46-million deal with the Mavericks prior to the 2014-15 season that includes a $16-million player option for next season. It's believed Parsons will opt-out of his final year in order to pursue a max deal.
"Free agency is a fun time, and obviously I have the opportunity here to opt out," Parsons said. "That's not necessarily to leave Dallas. That's maybe to sign a longer-term deal here. There's a lot of options."
He added: "We'll see what the value is. Obviously, the market is going very high up, and a lot of guys are getting paid a lot of money. You see where your value is, you see what the market is for free agents this summer around your caliber and your position. Last (contract), it was max, so we'll see what it is this summer."
While Parsons has enjoyed a successful run during his tenure in Dallas, he's been forced to finish each of the past two seasons on the sidelines. He underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee last May and was shut down for the remainder of this season in March after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on the same knee.
