NBA Game Summary - Atlanta at LA Lakers

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dennis Schroder had 24 points and 10 assists as the shorthanded Atlanta Hawks held off the Los Angeles Lakers 91-86 on Sunday night.

Atlanta held out starters Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll for rest, and Kyle Korver exited the game after breaking his nose.

Al Horford posted 21 points and five steals and Shelvin Mack poured in 18 points off the bench for the Hawks, who have won three of their last four games.

"A good win on the road. Our defense in the third quarter gave us separation. Our pick and roll was good all night," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said.

Carlos Boozer and Ryan Kelly netted 13 points apiece for Los Angeles, which has dropped seven of its last eight contests.

"For the most part we played well, They (Hawks) played with so much poise, the bottom line is winning," Lakers coach Byron Scott said.

The Hawks began to pull away with a 9-0 run that stretched into the fourth quarter. It was 68-58 in favor of Atlanta after Mack split a pair of free throws in the waning seconds of the third. John Jenkins sank two foul shots to cap the swing and give the Hawks a 72-58 advantage.

The Lakers, though, stormed back using a 16-2 surge in which Atlanta missed eight straight shots from the floor.

Wes Johnson finished off the burst with a right corner triple to claw the hosts within 85-83 with 30.1 ticks on the clock.

Schroder had the answer at the other end, driving in from the left wing and getting his layup to fall for a four-point cushion with 13.9 ticks on the clock.

Johnson was unable to hit on another trey and Kent Bazemore sealed the outcome with two free throws.

Earlier, the Hawks raced out to a 23-8 start, but LA answered with a 17-2 run that bled into the second which knotted the contest at 25-25.

Atlanta, which led 23-14 following a quarter of play, led 41-38 at the break.
