NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Al Jefferson had 21 points and 16 rebounds as the Charlotte Hornets held off the Los Angeles Lakers 104-103 on Tuesday night.

Mo Williams posted 20 points and 13 assists, while Gerald Henderson added 21 points and five helpers for the Hornets, who have won two straight on the heels of a 1-6 stretch.

"When the game gets tight, people are going to double me. When you have a chance to kick it out to a knockdown shooter, it takes the pressure off me," Jefferson said of Williams.

Jeremy Lin tallied 23 points, eight assists and six rebounds off the bench and Carlos Boozer provided 15 points and 11 boards for Los Angeles, which has dropped nine of its last 12 contests.

"We come out lackadaisical and the other team comes out with more aggressiveness," Lakers coach Byron Scott said.

After two Ed Davis free throws pulled the Lakers within 91-90 with 3:45 remaining, the Hornets went on a 7-1 spurt to put the game away. Williams capped the flurry with a 3-pointer to stake Charlotte to a 98-92 with 1:00 to go.

Jordan Clarkson's layup with nine seconds left clawed LA within 101-98, but Williams sunk 3-of-4 foul shots to seal the outcome.

Earlier, the Lakers raced out to a 7-1 start before Charlotte answered with a 14-7 swing to go in front, with Cody Zeller's three-point play concluding it for a 15-14 Charlotte edge.

The Lakers were up 30-27 following a quarter of play and Clarkson's floater in the waning seconds of the second tied the game at 50-50 heading into the break.

Charlotte broke a 52-52 deadlock early in the third with a 12-1 burst. A pair of Henderson baskets preceded Zeller's three-point play, which finished off the run for a 64-53 Hornets margin.

They led 74-70 going into the fourth.
