Report: Daniel Cormier pulls out of UFC 197 rematch with Jon Jones due to injury
Jon Jones will reportedly have to wait for his rematch with Daniel Cormier.
The UFC light heavyweight champion has withdrawn from his title fight against Jones at UFC 197 due to injury, sources told BJPenn.com.
Cormier is believed to have sustained a leg injury, according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The pair were set to headline the event on April 23 in Las Vegas, Nev., with Jones preparing to fight for the first time since he was suspended following an an April 2015 arrest on felony hit-and-run charges. He was reinstated in October, but was stripped of the light heavyweight title he owned for nearly five years.
Jones defeated Cormier in their first bout, earning a unanimous decision victory at UFC 182.
The UFC has yet to confirm whether Jones will be given another opponent at UFC 197, or if the fight will be pushed back to later date, with UFC 200 appearing to be a natural fit.
