Ken Shamrock is ready for Gracie-Shamrock IV.
In what was assumed to be the final part of a trilogy dating back to UFC 1 in 1993, Royce Gracie defeated Shamrock by TKO on Friday night at Bellator 149 in Houston.
The win was not without controversy, as it appeared Shamrock was struck by a low blow to set up the match-ending sequence. Shamrock made no attempt to hide his frustration at the post-fight press conference when asked how he felt about the outcome.
"In my opinion, it's not over," Shamrock said. "I wouldn’t want to win that way. If it was me personally, if I had hit somebody in the nuts and they went down, I knew that I hit them in the nuts, I would probably put my hands up and go 'sorry' out of a reaction, out of courtesy, I would have went ‘whoa, sorry dude’ and given him time to get his five minutes to recover. That’s what I would have done.”
Gracie turns 50 in December and Shamrock just celebrated his 52nd birthday, making a fourth meeting between the two unlikely. For his part, Gracie is uninterested in another rematch.
"To me, it's closed," Gracie said. "I have no problem with him."
