UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor has his sights set on adding two more world titles to his collection.
Already granted the unprecedented opportunity to hold two UFC belts simultaneously should he get past lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in March, McGregor couldn't help but tease reporters at a press conference for UFC 197 with how he might follow that up.
"I like the sound of that 170-pound title as well, I've got to be honest with myself," said McGregor, according to Damon Martin of FOXSports.com. "I feel I can take down them three gold belts. I feel I can do it all by the year's end."
The welterweight title is currently in the hands of Robbie Lawler, one of the most feared strikers in the sport. Of course, few have stood with McGregor and lived to tell about it, so the idea that he could knock out an opponent who is considerably larger than him is not as far-fetched as it sounds.
McGregor's candidacy is boosted by the current logjam at the top of the welterweight division, with several of the top contenders having already fought, some more than once. A matchup with "Notorious" would be both fresh and profitable for the UFC.
Were it not for the outside distractions and obligations that come with being a high-profile professional fighter, McGregor is certain he could quickly accomplish his goal of becoming a three-division champion.
"Cut out all the other stuff and I'd go through the whole roster in four months," said McGregor. "I'll tell you that right now, I'll whoop every one of them inside four months if you cut out all this other s--t.
"Bring me in, weigh me in and I'll fight the next night and wipe out the entire game inside four months."
