Joanna Jedrzejczyk followed up one of the most violent, one-sided title seizures in UFC history with an absolute battering of Jessica Penne in her first title defense at UFC Fight Night 69 in June.
The 28-year-old Polish buzzsaw has carved out a path of destruction since joining the UFC in 2014, racking up a 4-0 record while looking more and more terrifying with each victory.
Originally expected to square off with Claudia Gadelha in a rematch of their razor-thin decision at UFC on FOX 13, "Joanna Champion" will now face the streaking Valerie Letourneau, a veteran who doesn't live in fear of Jedrzejczyk's pathological tendency to carve up faces.
"I'm not impressed," Letourneau told "The MMA Hour," according to MMAFighting.com's Shaun Al-Shatti. "I like (Jedrzejczyk's) style, I like her as a fighter. Like I said in other interviews, I was looking at her more as a fan. If my memory is good, I think even when she fought (in the UFC) at first, I wasn't fighting at 115. I was not even looking at her like a future opponent.
"So, I'm not impressed because I fought such tough girls in my career. I'm never going to go in there scared or anything. I'm just doing my best, and I prepare myself the best that I can for my opponent. I have an awesome coach, I have every tool here, and I know I'm capable of doing anything."
The 32-year-old Letourneau is 3-0 since making her Octagon debut last year, recording consecutive decisions over Elizabeth Phillips, Jessica Rakoczy, and Maryna Moroz.
