Report: Aldo suffers rib injury, UFC 189 bout against McGregor in jeopardy
The dreaded injury bug is threatening to derail the most anticipated bout of 2015.
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo suffered a fractured rib during a sparring session on Tuesday morning, according to multiple reports, potentially putting his much-anticipated bout against Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11 in jeopardy. Aldo reportedly still hasn't decided whether to go ahead with the fight.
After rolling out an unprecedented 12-day, eight-city world tour to promote UFC 189, the loss of Aldo-McGregor would be a massive blow to a promotion that shelled out millions in hopes of shattering pay-per-view records.
UFC president Dana White, no doubt reacting to the firestorm created by the reports, tried to throw a little water on the raging inferno.
