Chris Weidman retains middleweight title with TKO victory over Vitor Belfort at UFC 187
The king stayed the king on Saturday night.
Chris Weidman retained the middleweight title at UFC 187 with a brutal TKO of Vitor Belfort, surviving an early blitz before completely decimating "The Young Dinosaur" once the bout hit the floor.
Early in the first round, Belfort uncorked some heavy leather on the feet, landing some serious shots in the clinch, while Weidman, now bleeding from a cut above his eye, brushed Belfort aside and easily took the bout to the floor with a perfectly executed double-leg.
From there it is was all Weidman, as the champion carved through Belfort's guard and started unleashing some vicious ground-and-pound until referee Herb Dean mercifully stepped in to end the carnage at 2:53 of the opening stanza.
Just a badass performance from Chris Weidman.
