Cerrone crushes Makdessi's jaw in TKO victory

Donald Cerrone continued his run as the lightweight division's foremost purveyor of ultraviolence at UFC 187 on Saturday night.
Cerrone systematically picked John Makdessi apart over a round and a half with thunderous leg kicks, though Makdessi was no shrinking violet, weathering Cerrone's slick combinations and answering in kind.
In the late stages of the second stanza, Cerrone wobbled Makdessi with a massive head kick, causing the Canadian to back away and try and call timeout, indicating Cowboy's shin had broken his jaw.
The win - Cerrone's eighth straight in the Octagon - likely puts him on a collision course with newly-minted lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos. Dos Anjos handed Cerrone his last defeat back in 2013.
