Bradley Scott def. Dylan Andrews via third-round guillotine choke
Dylan Andrews knocked Bradley Scott down twice during the first round of their bout on Saturday night, but that wasn't enough to keep the 25-year-old Englishman down.
After a round and a half of back-and-forth action, Scott looked like the fresher fighter in the late stages of the second, taking Andrews down and unleashing some heavy ground-and-pound. Scott stunned Andrews with a gigantic elbow from top control, and quickly snatched in a fight-ending guillotine choke with six seconds remaining in the middle frame.
Impressive performance from Scott.
Alex Chambers def. Kailin Curran via third-round armbar
Alex Chambers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Chambers was little more than target practice for Kailin Curran for more than two rounds. A breathing heavy bag that absorbed punishment, as Curran brutally picked her apart on the feet with heavy volume.
All that changed in the third round when Curran took Chambers down and got a little too careless with her ground-and-pound. Chambers snatched an arm and worked for armbar. Curran tried to slam her way out, and just when it looked like she had scrambled free, Chambers snatched another armbar, eliciting the tap at 3:15 of the round.
What. A. Comeback.
Brendan O'Reilly def. Vik Grujic
For anyone curious about what a live action version of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots looks like, have we got the fight for you!
Vik Grujic and Brendan O'Reilly showed similar technique to those plastic toy robots on Saturday night, only they were 150 percent sloppier, and 180 percent more prone to completely gassing out.
O'Reilly controlled the opening frame, using his superior wrestling to keep Grujic grounded, while landing some low-level ground-and-pound and threatening with a kimura.
The bout went off the rails in the second stanza, as both men decided to bite down on their mouth guards and engage in a sloppy, wildfire fight. Grujic landed the more effective strikes and had O'Reilly in a rear-naked choke as time expired.
Things slowed considerably in the final round, with both men spent from the previous round's ridiculous frenzy. O'Reilly fell back on his wrestling, sealing the bout with a few takedowns.
Ben Nguyen def. Alptekin Ozkilic via first-round TKO
It was a spectacularly violent UFC debut for Ben Nguyen.
Nguyen kicked off the Fight Pass prelims of UFC Fight Night 65 with a dazzling TKO of Alptekin Ozkilic, earning the stoppage with one second remaining in the first round.
After a relatively back-and-forth four and a half minutes, with Nguyen scoring on the feet early and Ozkilic controlling the bout on the floor with some ground-and-pound, Nguyen sent Ozkillic careening to the mat with a huge left hand.
Smelling blood in the water, Nguyen rained down a flurry of strikes on a prone Ozkilic until referee Greg Kleynjans mercifully stepped in at 4:59 of the opening stanza.
Incredible stuff.
