Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza absolutely brutalized Chris Camozzi at UFC on FX 8 in 2013, but he's not expecting things to be that easy come Saturday.
"I am focused to go and fight and win," Souza told MMAjunkie.com. "That fight is back in the past; it already happened. What's going to happen Saturday is something new. I don't think, 'Oh, I won the first time. It's going to be easy.' It's not. It's a new fight. I know he knows my game. He's going to be better this time. On my mind is getting a win and getting ready for the title shot."
After his original opponent, Yoel Romero, dropped out with a knee injury, Jacare was just hoping someone - anyone - would step in to fill the void on the other side of the Octagon.
"Once I got on the plane I was going to fight whoever they put in front of me," Souza said. "It's on. In my mind, it was just fight whoever they put in front of me.”
Any sort of victory over Camozzi, no matter how violently dominant, isn't likely to land Jacare the next shot at the UFC title, especially since the winner of Lyoto Machida-Luke Rockhold will be waiting in the wings.
