After the loss of her husband and knee surgery that kept her out of MMA action, Cat Zingano is finally ready to get back in the Octagon, according to an initial report from UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani.
The No. 1-ranked women's bantamweight hasn't fought since her TKO victory over Miesha Tate in April 2013. Zingano was supposed to coach opposite Ronda Rousey on The Ultimate Fighter 18 but was pulled out because of her knee injury.
In January, Zingano's husband committed suicide and the 31-year-old took some time away from the sport after the tragic loss.
Zingano has an 8-0 record overall record and while initial reports had her fighting in the title shot she earned against Rousey, Helwani suggested Amanda Nunes as her potential opponent for September.
Nunes has a 2-0 UFC record with wins over Sheila Gaff and Germaine de Randamie with brown belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Judo.
