Jones, Pereira call for UFC White House fight: 'Let's dance'
Jon Jones and Alex Pereira appear to share a mutual interest in squaring off at the White House.
On Saturday, Pereira, the UFC light heavyweight champion, posted a video on Instagram of him watching the UFC 321 heavyweight title fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane, which was ruled a no-contest after an eye poke to Aspinall. In the caption, Pereira vowed to "make the heavyweight division great again" and teased a superfight with Jones.
Jones, a former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, quickly responded to Pereira's callout. Jones retired from MMA earlier this year, but within weeks, he said he planned to fight again.
"Alex, I'd be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House," Jones wrote on X. "I appreciate the respect you showed, let's dance."
The UFC's event at the White House is tentatively planned for June 14, according to President Donald Trump, though the promotion has yet to confirm a date. UFC CEO Dana White has said he won't begin putting the fight card together until early next year.
Pereira reclaimed the light heavyweight title at UFC 320 earlier this month, finishing Magomed Ankalaev with an 80-second TKO. "Poatan" dropped the belt to Ankalaev in a unanimous decision defeat at UFC 313 in March.
"It's something that interests me," Pereira said earlier this month of competing at the White House. "I think I'll focus on this."
