PFL's Taila Santos suspended 6 months for positive drug test
PFL women's flyweight Taila Santos has been suspended for six months by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after failing a drug test.
Santos tested positive for oxandrolone, its metabolites, and clenbuterol in an out-of-competition test March 21, USADA said in a statement Wednesday.
The World Anti-Doping Agency classifies oxandrolone and clenbuterol as anabolic agents. They are prohibited at all times under the PFL anti-doping policy.
Santos' suspension is retroactive to the date of the drug test, meaning she will be eligible to return Sept. 21.
The 31-year-old Brazilian was ruled out of the PFL World Tournament earlier this month. She was scheduled to fight Juliana Velasquez in the first round April 11 in Orlando, but the promotion removed her from the matchup days before the event.
Santos was the women's flyweight runner-up in the 2024 PFL season, losing to Dakota Ditcheva in the November final. Santos went 3-1 overall in her first PFL campaign after parting ways with the UFC in late 2023. She's a former UFC title challenger.
