UFC welterweight Matt Brown announced retirement Saturday after 16 years with the promotion.

Brown's 15 stoppage wins are the most in welterweight history and his 13 knockouts rank second in UFC history. He added to his tally in his last fight in May 2023, taking out Court McGee in emphatic fashion.

The 43-year-old earned his spot with the UFC in 2008 through the seventh season of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Brown's peak came between 2012 and 2014 when he won seven straight fights before falling to former champion Robbie Lawler in a title eliminator.

The fan-favorite fighter leaves MMA with a 24-19 overall record, including a 17-13 mark in the UFC.
