Arnold Allen beat Calvin Kattar via second-round TKO in the UFC Fight Night main event Saturday.
Kattar appeared to injure his right knee late in the first round after landing awkwardly from an attempted knee, and the referee waved off the featherweight fight after the American went down again early in the second stanza following a leg kick from Allen.
Allen claimed his 10th straight victory inside the Octagon, tying champion Alexander Volkanovski for the second-best win streak in featherweight history. Max Holloway owns the divisional record with 13 straight victories.
With Volkanovski potentially moving up to 155 pounds to challenge newly crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, Allen called for an interim title fight against one of the division's other top contenders.
Allen landed the cleaner shots in an opening round spent exclusively on the feet. He used front and body kicks early to open up holes in Kattar's guard and exploited them with pinpoint left hands. A flurry of punches toward the end of the round was his most impactful moment.
Kattar falls to 1-3 over his last four fights, having lost a controversial split decision to Josh Emmett in June. Before that, Kattar bounced back from a brutal January 2021 loss to Holloway by beating Giga Chikadze a year later.
