Thirteen months after making his PFL debut, Anthony Pettis is finally in the winner's circle.

The former UFC lightweight champion submitted Myles Price with a triangle choke at the 4:17 mark of the first round in a lightweight bout at PFL 3 on Friday in Arlington, Texas.

Pettis earned six points under the PFL's regular-season format and now sits at No. 1 in the lightweight standings.

"Showtime" quickly got Price to the ground, where he controlled him for a couple of minutes and landed some punches. He then postured up and landed harder shots. After that, Pettis took Price's back but ultimately wound up on the bottom.

From there, Pettis immediately tried to lock in a triangle choke. He adjusted the choke to make it tighter, moved to a mounted position, and then got the tap from Price.

The finish was a promising start for the 35-year-old in his second season with the PFL. He underwhelmed in 2021, missing the playoffs after losing both regular-season bouts against Clay Collard and then-future PFL champion Raush Manfio.

Pettis left the UFC in late 2020 to become a free agent and quickly signed with the PFL. He had competed in the Octagon since 2011 and held 155-pound gold from 2013-15.

This was Price's PFL debut and his first MMA bout since 2019. He was coming off a win over Peter Queally in Bellator and is now 1-2 over his past three outings.
