Former GLORY Kickboxing champion Alex Pereira is getting a massive step up in competition in his next UFC bout.

Pereira and Sean Strickland verbally agreed to square off at UFC 277 on July 30, sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Strickland is ranked No. 4 in the UFC middleweight division and has won six fights in a row. The 31-year-old most recently defeated Jack Hermansson by split decision in February in his second consecutive main event.

Pereira, who has defeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya twice in kickboxing, is 2-0 since his Octagon tenure began in 2021. He scored a highlight-reel knockout of Andreas Michailidis in his November debut and then defeated Bruno Silva earlier in March. The Brazilian isn't ranked in the top 15 but would enter contention with a win over Strickland.

No other fights are booked for the pay-per-view event. A location hasn't yet been confirmed.
