Report: Blachowicz-Rakic in works for March 26 main event
Jan Blachowicz is set to compete for the first time since losing his UFC light heavyweight title.
The former champion is targeted to face Aleksandar Rakic during the main event for March 26's UFC Fight Night card, sources told MMA Junkie's Farah Hannoun.
Blachowicz suffered a second-round submission defeat to Glover Teixeira at UFC 267 in October. After becoming champion in September 2020, the 38-year-old successfully defended the belt once in March against middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
Rakic enters the biggest fight of his career on a two-fight winning streak, consisting of decisions over former title challengers Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith.
The 29-year-old is ranked third in the division and is 6-1 in the UFC overall. Rakic would likely earn a title shot with a triumph over Blachowicz.
The promotion hasn't yet announced a location for the March 26 event.
