An Italian DJ pressed charges against Conor McGregor on Tuesday following an alleged altercation with the UFC star last weekend in Rome, the Carabinieri police in the Como province confirmed to CNN's Jack Guy and Nicola Ruotolo.

Francesco Facchinetti is accusing McGregor of attacking him without provocation Saturday at a luxury hotel, causing injuries to his face and neck.

The DJ pressed charges because "the world needs to know the fact that (McGregor) is dangerous," he told CNN.

McGregor invited Facchinetti and others to the St. Regis hotel for a party, Facchinetti said, and the fighter hit him on the mouth and nose when he and his group wanted to leave.

Facchinetti said he suffered a concussion during the alleged incident.

"We continue to offer the police our full support in their investigation and have shared all available CCTV with them," a St. Regis hotel spokesperson told CNN in a statement Wednesday.

McGregor has had numerous run-ins with the law during his time as a popular MMA fighter, including a guilty plea to assault in 2019 after punching a man at a Dublin pub.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion is coming off a doctor's stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier in July and isn't expected to return to the Octagon until 2022.
